Artist Statement
Introduction
I am interested in the the subject of indexical traces of objects, surface and action. For me the proximity of the objects suggests relationships, near and far with endless possibilities of uncovering human lives within site lines.
In my practice this is created with experiential composition. Regardless of media, my work investigates lines which suggest physical associations within the realm of Scale and form. The subject whether collections of crockery, utensils, washing lines are current to my life style and give a potency to my work. The window in the kitchen is a frame which conveys the world to me . It looks in at me , and I become the object or the sitter .This creates a reflective state. The windows and curtains are distinctly female.
The work in the kitchen carries such vast history to me , within my own time and ancestral history, that all the clichés of women and women's work fall at my feet.
The representation of a cup, as female gives companionship to the previous owners it. The remix of collections travelling through time provides continuity and intrigues me.
